This is the class notes I made on the first day, sorry I didn't realise there had to be the pictures you took yourself but I understand the theory :)

  • extreme wide shot / establishing shot = used for introducing the world

  • extreme close up

  • medium shot (face and torso)

  • worms eye (seem bigger power dynamic)

  • dutch angle

  • birds eye (seem smaller power dynamic)

  • (regular) wide shot - interchangeable with extreme wide shot

  • POV (point of view) = you can see exactly what the character sees

  • Over the shoulder = used for conversations when you have a reverse shot eg two characters talking to each other, you can use this shot to go back and forth between them

RULES IN FILM:

  • stay within 45* of the action scenes

  • 180* rule = an imaginary straight line where you should keep all your camera equipment behind the scene.

    180* RULE:

  • establish direction and orientation

  • think of it like a stage play

  • by breaking the rule, you can create chaos in the scene

  • by changing the rule halfway, you can establish a power dynamic

  • neutral shot = resetting the shot back after breaking it
